When It's Too Far To Stagger

Harborview's Last Call cab program expands to Capitol Hill

Thanks to Harborview, St. Paddy’s day hipsters will now have an easier time making it home after celebrating Americanized Irish culture. The hospital’s Last Call program has expanded from Fremont and Pioneer Square to two taxi stands on Capitol Hill, one across from Neumo’s on 10th and Pike, and the other between R Place and Linda’s on Boylston and Pine. The medical center bribes cabbies with free doughnuts and coffee (along with the lure of generous drunken tips) to stay out late on weekends, Thursday through Saturday until 3 a.m., in hopes of keeping the drunks from behind the wheel. As for me, I’d never leave my lively friends on the 2:21 a.m. bus.
