Emerging from the den of a practice space, and onto the stage for the first live show can be nerve wracking for any band. And even though Archives is made up of well-versed pros- there were still some jitters to be had. None were in order though- the boys killed it with their inagural set. They even drew quite a crowd prior to their early 9:30 start time- it was clear who folks were there to see- the crowd was noticably thinner for Tiny Vipers and Sera Cahoone.
The full harmonies on the songs from their demo ep were executed beautifully live (if a little rough at the very start) not an easy feat with four singers all aiming for different notes, and Mat's voice- usually so soft it's barely audible- came through clear as day. The crowd was packed in on the floor (partly due to Neumo's new red velvet curtain that cuts the room in half for optimum intimacy during smaller shows) and people hung over the balcony- cheering loudly after each song prompting Mat- looking like a bearded prospector- to humbly marvel, "Gosh, you guys are being so kind to us on our first show."
