A Shot of Brandi

Is Brandi Carlile our next big thing?

Seems like with the success of Death Cab for Cutie and Modest Mouse, we're usually looking to indie-rock to provide Seattle's "Next Big Thing," but my money's on local singer-songwriter Brandi Carlile to become our city's next full-fledged national star. Her first major-label album (2005's Brandi Carlile) was nice, but didn't blow me away, and the Grey's Anatomy hype was kinda annoying (she's had three songs featured on the show), but I'm a lot more impressed by her new album, The Story, which comes out April 3rd.  Her pop/alt-country style should appeal to both Neko Case and Melissa Etheridge fans, and that's a recipe for success.  Carlile's playing the Triple Door on March 30th...
