Although Seattle may not have the coolest children’s television program in America (yet), at least we have the coolest radio station and the coolest record label. There are awards to prove it!
On Saturday night in New York City, good ol’ KEXP took home two PLUG Awards (the Grammys of indie rock), one for College/Non-Commercial Radio Station of the Year, the other for Online Radio Station of the Year (With Terrestrial Counterpart).
Sub Pop, still presumably gleaming over The Shins recent triumph on the Billboard charts, took home a PLUG for Record Label of the Year – and rightfully so. Two of their bands took home four awards combined.
Band of Horses came out on top for Album of the Year and Americana Album of the Year (Everything All the Time) and Song of the Year (“The Funeral”), while those foxy Brazilians in CSS took the award for, um, Punk Album of the Year.
