Have you ever heard of Sub Pop Records? No? It's this little record label here in town that have put out a handful of records over the years. Nirvana? Soundgarden? The Shins? Ring a bell? Well, anyway...those fine folks at Sub Pop are starting up a new label called Hardly Art and with any luck they'll put out records by bands that will make Natalie Portman's, Zach Braf's, and Kyra Sedgwick's ears bleed...or something like that. Hardly Art's first signee is Arthur & Yu, a sweet local group who make music that is a little bit Lee Hazelwood and a little bit Velvet Underground. Really good shit. Look for that release sometime in the Spring. The new label will be run by Sarah Moody, who has been working in Sub Pop's publicity department. Fun!
