Smog Dissipates

Just hold it right there, Callahan.

The bad news:  Smog, or smog, or (smog) -- the terrific, mid-fi brainchild of enigmatic, prolific, deep-voiced singer-songwriter Bill Callahan, who's been putting out albums under that moniker for more than 15 years -- is no more.  The good news: Smog was always just Callahan by himself anyway, so nothing's gonna change when he puts out his next album, Woke on a Whaleheart, under his mama-given name on April 17th.  Callahan's collaborators include Neil Hagerty (Royal Trux), gospel singer Deani Pugh-Flemming, guitarist Pete Denton, and violinist Elizabeth Warren.  Given the greatness of Smog's 2005 swan-song, A River Ain't Too Much To Love, I for one can't wait to hear Whaleheart.
