I'm late with this post, but it's no less important. The great Ahmet Ertegun, founder of Atlantic Records, passed away last Thursday at age 83. Ertegun's death was the result of a brain injury sustained during a fall backstage at a Rolling Stones concert on October 29. Mr. Ertegun had been in a coma since then. For a good run-down of Ertegun's importance in pop music, I recommend Jon Pareles' piece from Saturday's New York Times.
