A post was put up on Dead Moon's Myspace page from the folks at Magic Umbrella Films who made Unknown Passage, the Dead Moon documentary. The following is an excerpt from the post:
"(Fred Cole) said that it's a very hard thing to do, but after 20 years he feels the band has run it's course. He was very eloquent in his thanks and he marveled at the DIY approach that has brought the band and the "Dead Moon family" to where it is today. He hopes the spirit and idea of Dead Moon will live on."
"Run it's course"? I gotta tell you, this does not sound like the Fred Cole I got to know. We drank beer at noon on the back porch of his house in Clackamas, Oregon. He has a willpower unlike anyone I've ever met. I'm just speculating here, but I bet he and Toody are just holed up in Reno playing Nickel Keno and taking a break. Andrew is no doubt holed up at the Chin Yen in Portland. That European tour was grueling, no doubt. They probably would all just like to lay low for the winter. Let's keep our fingers crossed. After all, Toody said the only thing that would break that band up would be death. I'd like to believe it's true.
