What would a day at the Seattle Weekly offices be like without some list hitting our inboxes declaring the Emerald City as a top spot for one damn thing or another? That’s a world I don’t want to know.
Luckily, there has been no such drought today, as the folks at NerdWallet.com (which, as far as I can tell, is a cutely named website dedicated to saving people money) has produced a list of “The 20 Best Places for 20-Somethings.”
Of course they did.
Using criteria like affordability, job prospects, housing options, culture and the percentage of the population between the ages of 20 – 29, NerdWallet has determined that the Seattle-Bellevue-Tacoma area ranks number nine. Of course, combining Tacoma with Seattle and Bellevue has no doubt skewed the results - cheaper housing in Tacoma, less culture and job prospects - but let’s not nitpick a list that’s so obviously just a transparent ploy to get people to visit NerdWallet.com.
Cities that made the list ahead of Seattle-Bellevue-Tacoma include: Washington D.C - Arlington, Virginia at number one, San Francisco-Oakland-Fremont, California at number two, New York City – Northern New Jersey – Long Island, New York at number three, Boston – Cambridge – Quincy, Massachusetts at number five, and Los Angeles – Long Beach – Santa Ana, California at number 8.
You can find the full list here. (Spoiler alert: It’s somewhat pointless.)
