The Upside of Sexson's Futility

There's a hilarious beer special going on at Norm's in Fremont, which is otherwise known for providing brown-bag 40's to its clientele. Every Monday, from 4 to 7, the Leary Way alehouse offers Budweiser brand bottles for whatever Richie Sexson's batting average is on that day. Fortunately for tipplers — and unfortunately for the M's — the Dave Kingman (pay close attention to the King's '82 campaign) wannabe is threatening to dip below the Mendoza line with a current BA of .201. Which, if you move a decimal point over, means the presumably extinct sub-$2 beer might yet make a mid-season comeback. Go Richie! Or, rather, don't go!

Swannie's in Pioneer Square had a similar promotion eons ago when then-Ms catcher Dave Valle sported a batting average WAY below the Mendoza Line. I think you got a draft, not a bottle, though.

I've already tipped a few back at old Norm's...thanks Richie.
