Either way, the Lazy B has slipped to fourth on the ignominious new Federal Contractor Misconduct Database.The watchdog Project On Government Oversight (POGO) today reports it has compiled over 750 instances of misconduct including fraud, antitrust, environmental, securities and labor law violations since 1995. Lockheed Martin maintains its No. 1 ranking with 47 violations. But Exxon Mobil and General Electric took over the 2nd and 3rd slots, says POGO, with 32 and 30 instances respectively, beating out Boeing and Northrop Grumman, which were 2nd and 3rd last year.President Bush yesterday signed into law the National Defense Authorization Act, which includes a provision to establish a similar database on federal contractors and grantees. The government database, POGO notes, is modeled after POGO’s database, but with a glaring exception: the federal data won’t be publicly accessible. POGO this morning was still updating its newest figures, but here’s a look at Boeing when it was ranked No. 2, with almost $1 billion in misconduct.
