By now, you've probably heard about Macklemore's four Grammy sweep over the weekend. You've probably also heard about the ensuing drama with Kendrick Lamar, who Macklmore controversially beat out for Best Rap Album. Macklmore sent Lamar a now infamous text message which he posted on his Instagram:
"You got robbed. I wanted you to win. You should have. It's weird and sucks that I robbed you. I was gonna say that during the speech. Then the music started playing during my speech and I froze. Anyway, you know what it is. Congrats on this year and your music. Appreciate you as an artist and a friend. Much love"
The New York Times called the move "a transparent ploy for absolution, and a warning of robberies to come" while many Seattleites rose to the rapper's defense on Facebook.
Well, now Kendrick Lamar has finally put his two cents in, and he doesn't seem too upset at all.
Speaking to XXL Magazine, Lamar said:
It’s well deserved; he did what he did, man... He went out there and hustled and grinded. Everything happens for a reason; the universe comes back around, that’s how it go.
