Live Tonight: Esoteric, blesONE, The MC Type

Esoteric formed in the British industrial hub of Birmingham in 1992, and though guitarists Gordon Bicknell and Greg Chandler are the only founding members left, this sextet’s brand of “funeral doom” metal continues to confound. The title of its most recent album, 2011’s Paragon of Dissonance, offers a decent idea of what to expect. With Saturnalia Temple, Velnias, Anhedonist. Highline. 9 p.m. ANDREW GOSPE

blesONE “Stop Biting” is a weekly DJ night at the Lo-Fi, and it’s probably the most reliable destination in Seattle to get your instrumental hip-hop fix. blesONE, best known as the DJ for local party-rap crew Don’t Talk to the Cops, headlines this week’s edition. With K. Sabroso, Introcut. Lo-Fi Performance Gallery. 9 p.m. $5. AG

The MC Type’s final rap album, Bad Tattoos III (due early October), includes the prophetically titled “Moving on” and “Embrace the Change.” Type claims that this will be his last rap show before he turns to stand-up comedy as the primary vehicle for his meta-critique. With Jonny October, Corina Corina, and Kathleen Jenkins. Sunset Tavern. 9 p.m. $6. 21 and over. MICHAEL BERRY
