Live Tonight: The National, Porcelain Raft, Double Duchess, Jarv Dee

Calling Porcelain Raft “post-chillwave” seems cruel, so instead I’ll say that Mauro Remiddi makes woozy, narcotic electro-shoegaze in the vein of early M83 or Washed Out. Hazy singles “Think of the Ocean” and “The Way Out” indicate that the forthcoming Permanent Signal will offer much of the same. Barboza. 8 p.m. $12 adv. ANDREW GOSPE

Double Duchess is one of those bands that makes you have fun—you don’t really have a choice. The queer rap duo from San Francisco makes songs that could soundtrack a fabulous summertime hopscotch tournament out on a blacktop schoolyard (see “Bucket Betch”). Also featuring Seattle’s Glitterbang, tonight’s show will make you want to grab all the bejeweled aerobics wear out of your closet. You’re going to sweat, because these bands work you out. With Magic Mouth. Chop Suey. 8 p.m. $8 adv./$10 DOS. 21 and over. KELTON SEARS

The National, Paramount (pictured). See our feature here .

Jarv Dee splits his time among Nacho Picasso’s street-oriented Moor Gang crew, cloud-rap collective Kingdom Crumbs, and his own Southern rap–tinged music. He’s a talented, multifaceted rapper, and if recent opening slots for Snoop Dogg and Juicy J are any indication, he will be on to bigger things soon. With Metal Chocolates, Lazer Kitty. Sunset Tavern. 9 p.m. $8. AG
