Live Tonight: Jesca Hoop, Reckless Kelly, Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs

Jesca Hoop With a voice that sounds strangely placeless and songs that are slyly inventive in tone and form, this songwriter has fittingly opened for other idiosyncratic artists Eels and Andrew Bird. With DIONVOX. Sunset Tavern. 8:30 p.m. $15. ANDREW GOSPE

Reckless Kelly This Texas group has a cult following, churning out reliably polished and melodic country-rock albums since 1998. This show has Tractor Tavern written all over it, but maybe there are scores of closeted country fans on Capitol Hill. With Mickey & the Motorcars, Wade Bowen. Neumos. 6:30 p.m. $20. AG

Yeah Yeah Yeahs When Yeah Yeah Yeahs released the album art for its new record, Mosquito, people were rightfully confused. A “Garbage Pail Kids”–style rendering of a horrifying sludge-covered baby about to be violated by a mosquito? Huh? The cover, though exceedingly ugly, at least managed to whip up a press storm for a group that’s been fighting for relevance since its incredible decade-defining debut LP Fever to Tell. Unfortunately, Mosquito sounds as confused as its cover art. But don’t let that sway you from seeing YYY at Marymoor—despite the milquetoast record, nothing can change the fact that Karen O is one of our best performers. She still hasn’t relented from all the howling and writhing around that rocketed the group to stardom 10 years ago, and that alone is worth the price of admission. With Har Mar Superstar. Marymoor Park, 6046 W. Lake Sammamish Pkwy. N.E., 205-3661. 6 p.m. $39.50. All ages.
