The Rendezvous

January 28, 2004

photo: Jaime Skolfield

These days, it's probably best if we don't rely on too many things to stay the same. While the Rendezvous was once a hideout for all of Belltown's dirty secrets, sequestered punks, and the walking dead, it's been cleared out and cleaned up for a while now, and if you haven't seen it lately, you haven't seen it at all. Gone are the layer of scuzz and the backlit underbelly of grime, and in their place are some richly hued draperies and well-placed window seats. The Jewel Box Theater in the back still gets a workout, though nowadays you're much more likely to see some variety of cabaret or comedy act rather than a bunch of punks with thrift-store guitars. The more things change, the, uh, less they stay the same. 2320 Second Ave., 206-441-5823.
