1. Capitol Hill’s Canon beat out all other bars on planet Earth last weekend, garnering accolades for World’s Best Drink Selection at the 2013 Spirited Awards in New Orleans. The staff’s reaction via Canon’s Facebook page? “It’s still sinking in.” The honors are handed out each summer during Tales of the Cocktail, an annual event for the spirit industry and its enthusiasts. 2. Summer campers from the Ballard Boys and Girls Club and local Seniors are gathering for a cooking class sponsored by Eat to Thrive this Wednesday, and you’re invited. Queen Anne View reports that the noon to 2:00 pm session is happening at Queen Anne Presbyterian Church and will focus on healthy food for kids.
3. While we’re on the topic of learning to cook: From now until the middle of September Diane’s Market Kitchen will offer culinary classes every Friday at 11:00 am, noon, 1:00 pm and 2:00 pm at Pike Place Market. Here’s the kicker--the 45 minute sessions don’t cost a dime.
