1. Chef John Howie will unveil a specialty cocktail at each of his restaurants to benefit the nonprofit buildOn. Howie will donate $1 for each cocktail purchased in August, and the money raised will go towards a buildOn trip to Nepal in March 2015 and towards construction materials for the school-building project.

2. Local food enthusiasts will converge at Slow Food Seattle’s summer picnic potluck on August 10 from 12 to 2 p.m. at Ravenna Park’s picnic area. Attendees can also participate in a honey tasting with several honeys, like orange blossom and desert wildflower honey, from the western United States. Tickets are available online.

3. Piroshky Piroshky of Pike Place Market fame is opening a location in Northgate Mall’s food court on August 10. Head there from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for free mini-piroshkies.

4. The Center for Science in the Public Interest has released its annual list of America’s most unhealthy restaurant meals. Beware the 3,540-calorie Monster Meal from Red Robin.
