1. Red Star Taco Bar has opened on N 36th Avenue, reports Fremont Universe. The restaurant and bar replaces the White Rabbit with a revamped space, an a la carte menu, and “a staggering display of liquor.”

2.Tom Douglas is heading to Capitol Hill to open a third Serious Pie location. His pizza restaurant will open by August along the Minor side of the upcoming Starbucks roasting facility at Melrose and Pike, according to Capitol Hill Seattle.

3. Food & Wine magazine wants you to vote for “The People’s Best New Chef,” which curiously has only one Seattle name in the Northwest & Pacific category. Edouardo Jordan of Bar Sajor is competing against six Portland chefs and three from Hawaii.

4. A photo series documents the experiences of 15 women on food stamps is currently on display in Colorado – and online at PBS.org. The series offers a fascinating glimpse into the lives of those struggling with hunger.
