1. Frito pie? Yes, please. Montana owners Kate Opatz and Rachel Marshall (Rachel’s Ginger Beer) announced plans to launch Nacho Borracho in the former Ooba Tooba space on Broadway. CHS reports on the forthcoming Mexican spot featuring big portions and tequila-centric cocktails. Look for a January opening.

2. In honor of International Chowder Day (yep, that’s a thing) Duke’s is handing out complimentary bowls of its New England-style chowder from 11:00 am to 10:00 pm this Tuesday, November 12. The offer is valid at each of Duke’s six area locations.

3. Author, chef, urban farmer and Check Please, Northwest! host Amy Pennington is teaching a Canning 101 class at Cupcake Royale’s Queen Anne location. Students will leave the 90-minute session armed with freshly made Ginger-Cardamom Pumpkin Butter and a four-pack of cupcakes. The workshop is scheduled for next Thursday, November 14 at 6:30 pm. Cost is $30, call 206-285-1447 to make a reservation.
