Martino’s Smoked Meats & Eatery is now open. The Phinney Ridge restaurant features beautifully messy sandwiches like the Bar-B-Cuban, with hickory and cherry smoked pork loin stuffed between Macrina bread and topped with onion jam, gruyere and mustard BBQ sauce. Hours are 11:00 am till 9:00 pm Tuesday through Sunday.
Veggie Grill opened a downtown location in the Joshua Green Building on 4th Ave. and Pike St. The Santa Monica-based chain serves 100% plant-based eats.
Josh Henderson (file under Skillet, Westward/Little Gull, Hollywood Tavern) via his Huxley Wallace Collective restaurant group is opening Parchment in SODO. The beer n’ bread joint’s kitchen will be led by Revel/Joule pastry chef Laura Pyles and serve baked goods, sandwiches and brews. Look for doors to open in the first part of 2014 in the space that formerly housed Year of the Monkey at 2915 First Ave. S.
Hilliard’s Beer rolled out The 12th Can pale ale just in time for the 2013-2014 Seahawks season. The beer’s 4.5 percent alcohol content (that’s similar to Busch and Corona, although The 12th Can is bound to be preferred by microbrew fans) is now on the shelf in packs of 12 at QFC, Whole Foods and Met Market.
Top Pot opened its 15th doughnut shop on Madison St. near Minor Ave. in First Hill.
