El Rey Del Taco: Making Me Lazier, Happier

Right down the street from my house, a new taco truck has parked, El Rey del Taco. I still haven't figured out their hours, but I can vouch for the tortas at lunchtime.

The truck is across from Home Depot on Sylvan Way SW, the road that winds down from 35th through the cemetary, next to the Tug and the Vietnamese cultural center. Thank you El Rey, for helping me shrink my carbon footprint. I'll still make the trip to El Rincon south of White Center...

Say It Ain't So

Seeking to take advantage of last night's perfect late-August weather, m'lady and I left our Pigeon Ridge perch for the hidden neighborhood at the foot of Marine View Drive just southeast of the Fauntleroy ferry dock. Once there, we ventured to a restaurant of normally high esteem that shall remain nameless (rhymes with "Gwendolyne Ho's"), and were surprised to find that no one was taking advantage of their sidewalk seating.

Upon being greeted by a frazzled hostess, we found out why: the restaurant was slammed and short-staffed, and had thus decided to shut down a section. Makes sense, except why on earth any restaurant would decide that the best section to shut down on a 75 degree summer evening would be the outdoor section — where everybody wants to sit — is way beyond me. Perhaps someone in the biz can shed some light here.
