Another Belltown wine bar?

Cellars.jpg

Near the corner of 1st and Blanchard, Superspy Seely has spotted Cellars, a new presumably wine-centric "restaurant and lounge" where Jai Thai used to be. With a sign that screams early 90s and a poster out front promising steaks, seafood, pasta, and a wine list with more! than! 100! bottles!, I'm not sure it takes a Sherlock to guess where Cellars will fit in the ever-expanding continuum of Seattle wine bistros.

Or wait, is it a martini bar? Who knows? I don't. Anyone know when it's slated to open?

What they told me was that's it's going to be steaks & chops; the wine thing's for show. So the real question is, does Belltown nead another chop house?

It's the same owner as the late Tabella and Twilight; so don't expect it to be about the food as opposed to the "scene."

Went to the opening party and it seems like they are more focused on the bar and less on the restaurant. Food is psuedo Italian - think veal parmesan, etc. Anothr drinking option in the hood.

went to the opening party. vibe is more of a bar than a restaurnat. it seems like there is alot more seating in the bar. the food was italian comparable to trattoria mitchelli's- think veal parmesan. another place to wet your whistle in belltown.

The official opening day is today, for lunch, so right about now.
