“The Daily Drink” brings you a must-try libation from our booze columnist Zach Geballe.
Fremont Brewing has emerged as one of the darlings of the Seattle beer scene in the last few years, and it’s for good reason. Their beers strike the right balance between classic styles and innovative takes, and their Summer Ale is no different: bright and fresh with lots of orange notes, but it finishes with just enough hoppiness to keep all that fruit from feeling cloying. I’m not quite sure it’s the right beer for a truly hot summer day, but on these indecisive spring days it’s certainly a hint at what’s to come. The Summer Ale is just starting to hit tap handles and store shelves, so keep your eyes open.
Zach Geballe does a lot of drinking. When he’s not working at The Dahlia Lounge or for his business Vine Trainings, he’s studying for the Court of Master Sommeliers Exam. His weekly column here at Seattle Weekly, The Bar Code, endeavors to inspire, educate and sometimes poke fun at all things beer, wine and spirits related.
