1. Adding to his roster of Ballard Ave. restaurants, Ethan Stowell will open Chippy’s in the former Dutch Bike Co. space in the Kolstrand building. The fish, chips and chowder spot bumps up against his Staple & Fancy and is right down the street from the Stowell-owned Ballard Pizza Co. In addition to old-school eats like crab rolls and Shrimp Louie, Chippy’s will serve cocktails and eight beers on tap. Look for a March opening.

2. In other Ballard food news, Belle Clementine will shutter February 8. Serving communal-style meals at his eatery since December 2011, owner David Sanford spread the news yesterday via email: “It is very difficult to articulate how much this community of diners, farmers, families and supporters has meant to me and the team here at BC. For over two years we have not only stayed in business, we have thrived.” The Seattle Times has more details on the closure and what’s next for Sanford.

3. Armstrong Pitts Studio in Ballard is offering a three hour food photography workshop on January 25. Proceeds from the $150 class benefit Youth in Focus, a non-profit that teaches photo skills to low income, at-risk youth. More details are over here.

4. Pagliacci’s Edmonds location started serving pizza by the slice. To celebrate, customers can stop in for two free slices per person this Saturday, January 18 from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm. The offer is valid at the Edmonds shop only.

5. Speaking of pie, Flying Squirrel Pizza Co. will open its Maple Leaf and Seward Park locations early on Sunday for the Seahawks game.
