Broadway Farmers Market Goes Year-Round, Golden Beetle Ramps Up Happy Hour

1. The Broadway Farmers Market is no longer closing from January till March. According to CHS, the Pike and Broadway market will run on Sundays from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm all the year long.

2. Starting today, Ballard’s Golden Beetle is doubling the size of its happy hour menu. New eats include Fried Pistachios and Savory Chickpea and Lemon Stew. Six specialty cocktails will be up for grabs for $8 as well, including Sazerac (rye, absinthe, peychaud’s bitters). The new menu runs every day from 5:00 to 6:00 pm.

3. Live music, a corn shucking contest, funnel cakes, apple bobbing and eats will be on hand at the 2013 Harvest Hoedown. The October 17 event at Herban Feast’s Sodo Park event space runs from 6:30-9:30, with proceeds benefiting Washington food bank supplier Rotary First Harvest. Click here for tickets.

4. Looks like three’s a crowd: My Ballard reports on the quiet closure of Yozen. The self-serve froyo shop sat on the same strip as Cupcake Royale (CR started offering scoops of their own ice cream line in 2012) and Molly Moon’s (inside Li’l Woody’s.)
