1. Ethan Stowell’s latest restaurant, mkt. opens today at 5 p.m. in the historic Keystone building in Tangletown. In the kitchen, chef Joe Ritchie and Monica Dimas, from Stowell’s Anchovies & Olives, will serve contemporary American food (much of it cooked on a wood-fired grill) with lots of Northwest flourishes, like Seared halibut with braised artichokes, chanterelles, chrysanthemums greens and dried chilies and Grilled rabbit with frisee, bacon salad, savory and juniper. Seth Sexton, the manager and wine director from Stowell’s How to Cook a Wolf will oversee the bar which will emphasize house barrel-aged cocktails. For reservations: 206-812-1580.
2. Looking for a place to watch the Seahawks kickoff this Sunday? Von Trapp’s opens early and will be showing the game on several screens. The bier hall launched a brunch menu earlier this month that includes pork schnitzel breakfast and bratwurst & mushrooms with poached eggs. Brunch runs from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm, with the regular menu (and 14 beers on tap) available starting at 10:00 am as well.
3. Rachael Coyle’s fall cooking classes at Book Larder have been scheduled and include a Croissant Class on October 13 and Sweet & Savory Pies on October 17.
