Good news for Seahawks fans: 2013 might be the year of the 12th man. After ending the month of December with an impressive scoring differential

Washington's Lottery is Giving out Seahawks Tickets, and Lots of Seahawks Fans are Not Happy

Good news for Seahawks fans: 2013 might be the year of the 12th man. After ending the month of December with an impressive scoring differential of 193-60 against their last five opponents, it is clear rookie quarterback Russell Wilson and the rest of the Seahawks are primed for a strong playoff run this season.

Bad news for Seahawks fans: The Hawks are the fifth seed in the NFC. Meaning that unless the sixth seed Minnesota Vikings are able to make it to the NFC Championship Game and play Seattle, all of the Seahawks playoff games will be on the road and pretty difficult to get to.

Thankfully Washington's Lottery is willing to help out.

On Tuesday the state lottery announced on its Facebook and Twitter pages that they would be hosting a giveaway for two trips for two to the Seahawks-Redskins playoff game this evening. The winners will receive free airfare to Washington, D.C., a two night hotel stay (double occupancy), and two tickets to the game.

Here's the rub: You can only get your hands on a Seattle Seahawks scratch ticket at the Southcenter Mall in Tukwilla tonight, between 5:30-7:00 p.m. this evening. At 7:00 p.m. the winners will be announced, who must be present to receive their prize.

The giveaway has received a harsh backlash from several Hawks fans who live outside the Seattle area on the lottery's Facebook page and feel it's not fair to make the giveaway only open to those that can get to Tukwilla this evening.

As Facebook user Matt Olfson commented:

What crap is this? We over here on the eastern side of the state paid for that shiny new stadium too! Why not let us have a chance to win those tickets?

And as user Steve Sauro noted:

I thought this was the WASHINGTON STATE lottery. But hey, there can't possibly be season ticket holders outside of Seattle. Epic fail.

On top of just those individuals who live out of the area, several Seahawks fans in the Seattle area have written on the FB page expressing concern about not having a chance to partake due to work and other plans during that time.

User Maria DeCair posted:

Great prize, but some of us have to work because our jobs are in customer service and we want to make sure we service all of our customers. Why dont you service All your customers?

In response to this massive outcry, Washington's Lottery released a new status on its page a few hours ago stating that the lack of turnaround time the lottery had between the playoff matchup being announced and receiving tickets made it necessary to host the event at the Westfield Southcenter Mall.

As the status states:

Hey, everyone. It's great to see so much support for the Seahawks on our page. Given the comments about tonight's Seahawks promotion location, here are a few details we wanted to share. We hold promotions throughout the year that are open to people all over the state. In fact, half of the winners of our recent Fan Four promotion were from Eastern Washington and the Vancouver, Washington, area. For this promotion, the opportunity to give away this trip came together just days ago as the Seahawks progressed into the playoffs. In order to execute this contest quickly and cost-effectively, we used our location within the Westfield Southcenter Mall. The contest is open to everyone and we invite you to join us tonight for a chance to see the Seahawks this weekend.

However, Facebook users have still been attacking the organizations page with complaints about the handling of the giveaway with no avail. Maybe Washington's Lottery can host another giveaway in Eastern Washington for TV's to watch the game on.
