As Mike Seely examines in our cover story this week, the films Singles and The Fabulous Baker Boys each gave moviegoers memorable vignettes of life in Seattle.

And while the portraits varied widely, one thing the movies had in common was this: Both has their characters trekking way too far for where they needed to be, all in the name of scenery.
