How SPD Views the Leo Etherly Dash-Cam Video

Etherly PUnched.jpg
We spent a significant amount of time yesterday delving into the now infamous dash-cam video that shows SPD officer Eric Faust punching hit-and-run suspect Leo Etherly in the face. Pretty much every media outlet did, and rightly so. Whether Etherly was being uncooperative or not, the sight of two SPD officers pinning a man to the hood of a police car while an obviously irate third cop decks him in the eye is enough to make any reasonable person cringe and look for answers.

So how does SPD view the dash-cam video? As was mentioned on The Daily Weekly yesterday, SPD Sgt. Sean Whitcomb took the time to go through it yesterday in its entirety with members of the media during a hastily scheduled press conference. For those not lucky enough to have seen the presentation firsthand, SPD has conveniently posted a video of Whitcomb's presentation.

Here it is:

In my opinion, one of the most interesting parts of Whitcomb's presentation comes as he's describing the "particular force tactic" used against Etherly that launched the OPA investigation into the matter -- which was apparently Faust's use of hands to Etherly's face and throat and not the angry punches.

What do you think?
