Eyman's Tax Law Passing With Supermajority

Tim Eyman will have his way once again.

The ballot-measure crusader's 2/3 tax requirement, which has so ably de-funded Washington state government since 2008, is winning by a nearly 2-to-1 margin. Some 1,049,460 have voted for I-1185; 585,249 have voted against it.

Now, those opposed to making tax increases nearly impossible while public schools are considered severely underfunded must rest their hopes on the state supreme court. The high court is now considering whether requiring a supermajority to pass legislation violates the state constitution.
