According to a story from the Associated Press today, the break-in is still being investigated by Seattle Police, and "a preliminary report suggests it might be something other than a routine break-in."

According to the AP:
The [preliminary] report says the majority of items taken belonged to important campaign people, and the intruder attempted to make it appear to be a random burglary.
Police spokesman Jeff Kappel cautions against reading too much into the preliminary report. He won't say more while detectives are investigating. There have been no arrests.
While Kappel may be recommending we avoid reading too much into the suspicious aspects of the preliminary report at this point, I just stuck a red flag in the flower pot on my balcony ... just to be safe.
