Comment of the Day: Drunk Uncle Joe Snatched Defeat from the Jaws of Victory

Last week Daily Weekly intern Ilona Idlis masterfully broke down the vice presidential debate, declaring Joe Biden's teeth the winner after careful study of the reaction on Twitter. It was easily some of the most insightful political commenter you'll find.

As the post noted:

Polls be damned, the real winners of last night's vice presidential debate were Joe Biden's pearly whites. Thanks to a split-screen broadcast, Uncle Joe's pristine chompers were center stage no matter whose turn it was to argue.

Whether the Vice Presidential mouth was busy calling Paul Ryan's positions malarkey or simply chuckling at the much younger senator's attempts at debate, Biden's teeth shined on in HD. While the pundits dispute the political implications of the Veep's unyielding laughter and interruptions during almost all of Ryan's performance (adorable? unhinged?), Twitter has gone ahead and dubbed Biden's grin king.

However, not everyone was won over by Biden's grin and incessant laughter, like Daily Weekly commenter sheldo.

sheldo writes:

"Drunk Uncle" Joe Biden did a masterful job of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory at the VP Debate the other night. Had he behaved like a sober adult, his long experience in government would have greatly impressed the bulk of the audience. Not that most of what he would have said would have been relevant to today's problems, but his comments would have been interesting, none the less. The Dems quite plainly do not have a positive record to run on so are trying to throw out as many red herrings as possible to distract the unwatchful. I don't think it is going to work. Very likely, on 11/7/2012, the current trash will be set out at the curb at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. And none too soon.
