Never underestimate the ingenuity of criminals. Especially in Tacoma. A story from KING 5 News this morning proves it.

According to that story, a cashier at a Tacoma K-Mart on 72nd Avenue has been slipping counterfeit $20 bills into customers' change in place of real ones ... for a year and a half.

While it was a good run, like all things in life, even remarkable criminal endeavors, it couldn't last forever.

As KING 5 News reports:

Police said the woman gave fake money as change and also took real twenties out of the cash register and replaced them with the counterfeit bills.

Early Thursday morning she was booked into jail on 11 counts of forgery, one for each of the 11 counterfeit bills she had in her possession.

The story doesn't say how the woman was busted, but if police are correct, and she really has engaged in the scheme for a year and a half, at the very least she gets an 'A' for effort.
