Despite the efforts of those that oppose the tax, including a ruling that (ever-so) temporarily blocked the tax from taking effect, the Washington State Supreme Court issued a stay last week that set the tax back on track - meaning it hit the books as planned on July 1, now awaiting a more permanent resolution from the high court in the near future.
Not surprisingly, as is the case with anything tax related, the situation has riled the feathers of many, including commenter JustObserving46, who writes:
Ever is it thus: "There will be irreparable harm to the state if we do not get this tax measure implemented!" P & M, W & C!!
What about the citizens of the state? Why is it that people can't get it through their heads that the money going to the state is being taken out of the private economy, further delaying our recovery from this government induced and sponsored recession? All governmental units need to be put on a "fixed income" and told they have to learn to live within their means--no exceptions!! And the politicians need to be cycled out of office on a very regular basis!!
