Last week Keegan Hamilton posted to The Daily Weekly about contributions made to the I-502 campaign by travel guru Rick Steves. All together, Steves has donated $350,000 to the cause, though a recent $100,000 refund raised some eyebrows.

As the post noted:

Asked about the refund, New Approach Washington campaign director Alison Holcomb says there's no tricky European math involved. Altogether, including the repayments, Steves' formerly bulging money belt is now $350,000 lighter.

"Rick has a personal draw account at his company," Holcomb explains. "His original $100,000 check was drawn off of that account. The way it was shown, it was like his company made the donation. He wanted to ensure it was a personal donation, not from his company. We withdrew [his two $50,000 contributions], then he issued us a new check for $100,000 from his personal account."

Quite naturally, a post about I-502 inspired debate about the proposed licensing and regulation of marijuana production.

As commenter greenlv writes:

i502 is not 'Legalization'.

How can it be legal if I cannot grow it at Home? It is about arbitrary unscientific DUI's that do not prove impairment, no Home Growing, State run stores, No protection for 18-21 or patients. It's a power grab akin the Patriot Act, done for all the 'right' reasons, ends up eroding our liberty and pushing us closer to a Police State.
