Tattoos are for life. In most cases, so is a diehard fan's love of a particular sports team. Usually, these two facts of life don't intersect ... but when they do the results can be freakin' spectacular.

Knowing this, and knowing the Internet is specifically designed for such ridiculous endeavors, Seattle Weekly has searched high and low for the most awesome Seattle-related sports tattoos we could fine (on the Internet, in a single afternoon's work). We think you'll enjoy what we've found.

Are all of them spectacular pieces of body art? Not exactly. But they're all exceptionally fun to look at.

10. Ode to The Glove

Gary Payton is easily one of the most lovable personalities in Seattle sports history. So it's no wonder then that this hardcore GP fan, already once highlighted by Daily Weekly, chose to decorate an entire side of her body with his likeness. What is surprising is you can't see Payton's mouth in this tattoo, as it was easily one of his best assets on the court.

9. Old-School Mariners Ink

The good news about this tattoo is it recollects back to the Mariners' heyday, a time long before Chone Figgins and the dancing groundskeepers. The bad news is it kind of looks like it was done in prison.

8. Seahawks Arm

In case you didn't realize the Seahawks were from Seattle, this guy decided to throw the Space Needle behind his awesome Seahawks arm tat just to clear things up. Probably a good call, especially considering the possible confusion given the cloverleaf (or whatever the hell it is) he's also rocking on that impressive arm of his.

Remember when Seattle had an NBA team? Remember when it won a world championship back in the day? Remember how awesome that was? This guy sure does.

6. Mariners Leg

Now, if I was going to get a Mariners tattoo, I'd make sure to put it somewhere on my body where I could choose when to show it off - like on the back of my calf, for instance, where it would only see the light of day on the six days a year when it's actually warm enough to wear shorts, or the six days of the baseball season when the Mariners are actually in striking distance of .500. Obviously this guy and I have a lot in common. Still, compared to that Gaylord Perry-era prison tat, this one's amazing.

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure this tribal design is part of the Seahawks' new Nike uniforms.

Drink a Rainier, turn on some Almost Live, and enjoy the hell out of this everlasting piece of Seahawks history.

Sure, compared to some of the other tattoos on our list this one could be viewed as a wee-bit uninspired, maybe even a bit bland ... but that neglects to appreciate the fact it'll be on this guy's arm forever. There's nothing uninspired about that.

1. Seahawks Chest

That scene from The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo where the rapist guy gets branded for life was loosely based on this piece of ink. I'm almost certain of it.
