It's a troubling story that's made all the rounds. Sex offender Gregory Sean O'Neall of Des Moines, employed as a Costco food sample provider, was arrested Thursday - accused of distributing child pornography on the Internet. Investigators say O'Neall snapped over 100 photos of unknowing young girls shopping with their parents at the Federal Way Costco where he handed out food, in addition to other unsavory acts.
Sunday that a Federal Way mom who worked alongside O'Neall at Costco was horrified to see five pictures of her daughter, who she says used to get samples from O'Neall, had been posted on O'Neall's Faecbook page. Although the KING 5 story notes the pictures are not pornographic, the mom describes them as "creepy," and is apparently trying to get Facebook to take them down.
From the KING 5 story:
"You never know what he does with those photos and I need them off Facebook," [the girl's mom, Emily Krause] said.
She called police and is trying to get Facebook to help, but the toughest part was explaining all this to her daughter.
"I watch my daughter like a hawk and to find those photos it's devastating," she said.
As the KING 5 story also notes, the company that employed O'Neall as a Costco food sample provider, Warehouse Demo Services, has issued a statement saying the company did a background check on O'Neall that did not uncover a history of sex offenses or a criminal conviction, and is "shocked" and "disheartened" by the allegations.
As is now widely known, O'Neall is a registered sex offender, originating from a 1991 criminal conviction in Texas. According to authorities O'Neall last updated his sex offender registration with King County in March of this year, so one wonders if it's not time for Warehouse Demo Services to consider finding a new background check provider.
