On Tuesday post Daily Weekly featured a post about 41-year-old Jason Hundrup, who was being transported to the Eastern State psychiatric hospital when he lost his cool and attempted to grab the steering wheel away from the paramedic driving his ambulance, biting the driver's ring finger in the process .
As the post explains, Hundrup broke from his restraints while being transferred and bit the driver before fleeing toward a nearby farmhouse. Hundrup would quickly subdued, however as the Colfax Police, Spokane County Sheriff's Office, and Washington State Patrol all arrived at the scene and found him hiding under a bridge.
As the post noted:
For those playing at home, it was at this point that authorities busted out the Taser, using it to subdue Hundrup and take him into custody. Hundrup was subsequently booked into Whitman County Jail on third-degree assault charges and two counts of malicious mischief.
One Daily Weekly commenter came out in strong support of Hundrup, contending the media was mistreating the situation.
As commenter Jmedley writes:
What they don't tell you in this story is that Jason's family had asked Washington State Behavorial health and the sheriff's department to sedate him before they transported him, as his manic bipolar episodes make him very strong. Jason is a wonderful man and this is just so so sad that the media had to exploit him. If the powers that be had done their job this would not have happened! God Bless You Jason.
