The Supreme Court's ruling affirmed the constitutionality of the most hotly-debated and aspect of the law: the requirement that almost all Americans carry health insurance or pay a fine. This mandate - loathed and challenged by most Republicans - was upheld by the Court under the federal government's power to levy taxes.
That decision was enough to set commenter Christopher Neal off.
So it is unconstitutional to force Americans to buy a product that they do not want, but it IS constitutional to penalize Americans for not buying said unconstitutional product. Got it.
