Lavonn Williams II
The Pierce County Prosecutor's Office officially charged 39-year-old Lavonn Williams II with first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder yesterday, stemming from the brutal beating of his parents in Spanaway on Monday. Charging documents indicate Williams II used a vacuum cleaner and a wooden chair to inflict the wounds that left his mother dead and his father hospitalized with serious injuries.

Upon arriving at the home, officers reportedly heard what charging documents describe as a "commotion" coming from the lower level apartment, which was rented by 56-year-old Brenda Williams, who suffered from cancer and was undergoing treatment. Her ex-husband, 64-year-old Lavonn Williams, also lived at the apartment and had been caring for her. The couple's son, Lavonn Williams II, had been staying at the apartment for "several weeks," according to the Pierce County Prosecutor's Office.
Investigating the "commotion," Pierce County Sheriff's Deputies had the homeowner let them in through an interior entrance inside the main house. According to charging documents, upon opening the door the responding officers "immediately saw Lavonn Williams unconscious on the floor covered with blood," as well as Lavonn Williams II "standing over Brenda Williams who lay unconscious and bloody on the floor."
It must have been a fairly damning scene.
From charging documents:
While still at the scene Lavonn Williams briefly regained consciousness. Lavonn Williams told detectives that earlier in the evening a dispute arose and WILLIAMS II was ordered to leave. WILLIAMS II left but returned. Shortly thereafter WILLIAMS II began to beat his parents. Lavonn Williams was beaten unconscious apparently with a large vacuum cleaner. Investigators saw bloody parts of the vacuum strewn about the apartment.
In addition to the bloody vacuum cleaner parts, Pierce County Sheriff's Deputies also saw blood-covered pieces of a wooden chair strewn about the apartment, the object charging documents indicate Williams II used to beat his mother to death with.
Sadly, Brenda Williams suffered what charging documents describe as "severe head trauma" and died a few hours after being transported to a local hospital. Pierce County Medical Examiner Thomas Clark has determined Brenda Williams died from blunt force trauma, and that she also suffered injuries to her torso and "many" broken ribs in the attack.
Charging documents indicate Lavon Williams remains hospitalized with his injuries, so far unable to provide further statements to police about what transpired during the violent attack.
Lavon Williams II has previously been convicted of second- and third-degree assault, first- and second-degree unlawful possession of a firearm, drug possession and attempting to elude a police vehicle.
