Last week Seattle Weekly's Nina Shapiro posted to Daily Weekly about a recent Department of Fish and Wildlife announcement regarding the results an investigation into a killing on a Methow Valley ranch.

The believed culprit: wolves. And because of that fact the state will now pay the rancher $1,500 in compensation.

As Shapiro's post notes:

It's the first time such a thing has happened, and it comes as a result of a wolf conservation and management plan adopted by the state last December.

The post, and moreover the ongoing debate over wolves and the state's role in protecting them, inspired Daily Weekly readers to chime in.

Hey PEOPLE!!! What part of, THEY were here first don't you understand? YOU are trespassing on Their areas, They kill to EAT! Don't YOU? What is the difference. OH humans kill cause they Can, Wolfs kill cause they NEED TO. What is so hard to understand, if you don't want your livestock killed then keep them penned up or in the barn, We are the ones with a brain Aren't we?

And, in response to Wolf_eagle-1958's comment, KDub63 writes:

You babbling on about a non native, invasive introduced hybrid is completely laughable, yet so disgustingly agenda 21. Be gone with you and your ilk already.
