We had a few theories as to the root of the problem, like the fact it was a Wednesday night in April and no one in their right mind would want to watch the Cleveland Indians and the Seattle Mariners play baseball, but they were mainly in jest. Seattle Weekly's Keegan Hamilton likely got closest to the pin when he noted that fielding a consistent winner would go a long way toward filling Safeco seats.
However, commenter Russ Davis was on the ball, breaking down the issues he sees with making it to the ballpark.
The crowd was small for a number of reasons. They are:
1. Its not fun being a Seattle sports fan. Prove me wrong. We suck.
2. When we suck the only way to make it fun is to drink. $10 beers dont help that.
3. Baseball is best in the sun. It's April.
4. Viaduct closures/construction and lack of efficient public transportation.
