Being a pro football player is tough work, what with keeping up with the Joneses and all. The Seahawks just re-signed their star running back to a four year contract worth a lot of dough just burning a hole in the player's pocket. So if you've ever wondered what rich NFL players spend their money on, then look no further.
Seattle Seahawk Marshawn Lynch, he of Skittles fame, is celebrating his $31 million, four-year contract with a Seahawks-branded grill. No, not the kind of grill you use to bling out the front of your Escalade or light up at the tailgate party. We're talking about the grill that gets right up in a defender's face, ideally blinding them with its brilliance long enough for an enterprising running back to sprint his way to a touchdown.
This full-bottom grill for Lynch's pearly whites cost $2,800, and it's not his first. The "Seahawks green" bejeweled number is just the latest in Lynch's growing collection, which includes the popular "Beast Mode" set he featured during the Seahawks playoff run last year.
Lynch says he got his first taste of the grill fashion world at the tender age of 12, a piece he later accidentally threw away with his lunch. Asked why he picked his team name this year, Lynch said, "the 'Seahawks' lets them know who I play for...that was pretty much the thought process on that." The grills are, of course, not permanent, but Lynch says he dreams of one day getting an "O.G. gold tooth."
This docu-grillery shows how Lynch's new grill was designed and produced:
