Comment of the Day: Freedom of Speech Doesn't Protect Your Employment

NoFreeSpeech01.jpg
Christmas comes early for one reader who drew easily the most logical and reasoned conclusion of anyone who weighed in on the video of an SPD cop talking candidly about the "dumb fuck" who jogged to work and got himself hit by a semi.

Recall that the news in question is that of West Seattle resident Tim Nelson who was jogging to work and got hit by a truck, then when his lawyer requested SPD's dash-cam footage, found two SPD officers mocking him for having the gall to jog to work (even though it was during the viaduct closure and the city was actually encouraging people to jog/bike to work).

To that Ross Black writes:

All of you bashing the Seattle PD need to remember that your freedom of speech is what allows you to say what you want, when you want to. That's great. That's also the same right the police officer's have...to say what they want. You don't have to like it. It's their right to say it. Was it politically correct? Probably not, but people need to get over themselves. Everyone wants to be able to say whatever they want, like Mel who uses an extremely derogetory term refering to the police when she comments below "Fucking pigs, we need to occupy the SPD". Mel can say that but yet she's mad about things the police say? Quit being hypocrites. And occupy something else like the PD? Do something useful instead of sitting around bitching and whining that you're not getting enough freebie handouts. Get educated, get a job and get a life.
