Intellectual Ventures Trolls for Patents, Now You Can Troll for Intellectual Ventures

Nathan Myhrvold's demonic creation Intellectual Vultures--I mean Ventures--is often accused of patent trolling. Here's your chance to Troll 'em back!

Prankster Nathan Tone today has the brilliant new effort to have some fun at Myhrvold's expense.

Bellevue-based Intellectual Ventures essentially operates by buying up all the patents it can get its hands on, then either licensing the patents to inventors, or (as is more often the case) suing inventors who find out that they've used some of the intellectual property contained in one of IV's thousands and thousands of patents.

Critics call this trolling, because essentially the company is just sitting on these patents waiting to grumble out of its cave when some actual inventor wants to do something worthwhile with the technology.

For this many techies and entrepreneurs hate Intellectual Ventures and Nathan Myhrvold.

Thus, Tone's "Troll 'Em" idea is brilliant.

I suggest everyone send two.
