Two days after a protestor at Occupy Vancouver (B.C.) nearly died from a drug overdose, a different protestor has died, and at least one organizer says the reason was also an OD.

The death has caused Vancouver Mayor Gregor Robertson to call for protestors to "end the encampment."

The Vancouver Sun reports:

The death, following an overdose at the site Thursday, prompted Mayor Gregor Robertson to say there is an urgent need to shut down the site due to "life safety" issues.

"Obviously really really tragic circumstances - this loss of life and the overdose just a few days ago clearly demonstrate though that the situation here in camp has deteriorated. Life safety is paramount," Robertson said at an 8 p.m. media scrum on the west side of the art gallery. "I have directed the city manager to expedite the appropriate steps to end the encampment as soon as possible, with a safe resolution being absolutely critical to that."

The Sun doesn't list overdose as the cause of death. But an AP report says that a "Canadian protest organizer" said Gough likely died of an OD.

Gough's Facebook page shows a host of photos of the young woman hanging out with friends and several photos of her and others train jumping.

While the death is news because it happened at an Occupy protest, it's important to recognize that Vancouver is well-known for heroin addicts and records about 55 OD deaths on average per year.
