Some things are better done with clothes on, like going for a walk on the North Pole. Other things are better done without clothes, like taking a nice, warm shower. Then there are those activities that fall somewhere in between, like fishing off the shore in the summertime. Unfortunately, if you are too public about doing so in the nude, and you've got a previous conviction for indecent exposure, you are now a potential felon, and possibly a sex offender to boot.
The incident in question happened Sunday on West Medical Lake outside Spokane, where a father and his two young sons, all of them clothed, were fishing from their boat. As they traversed the lake they allegedly came across Dean Meginniss, 54, on the shore, fishing pole in hand, naked as he came. Allegedly, Meginniss stood up as the boat approached, thereby fully exposing himself to his fellow fishermen.
The father reported the incident to a worker at the West Medical Lake Resort, who took his boat over to the naked fisherman and gave him a piece of his mind (and who, in the interview he granted KREM in the below clip, proves to be quite the quote machine). Cops were also alerted, and showed up to arrest Meginniss, who, in addition to the nude fishing, had a warrant out for his arrest on a charge of stalking.
Which brings up an important point: If you're wanted for suspicion of stalking, probably you shouldn't go nude fishing in a spot where you're likely to come into view of fathers who are strangers to you taking their young sons fishing on their boats.
As for the promised gaffe, it's at the tail end of intrepid newsman Othello Richards' story on KREM (below). You can't miss it!
