Just before noon on Sunday, police in Salem, Ore., responded to a call about naked men fighting in someone's backyard. There, the cops say they found Jon Johnson, John Morrison, and Brandon Gile, three fully naked 20-somethings who'd ingested "10 hits of LSD" apiece and were, needless to say, not in their right minds.
What followed involved pepper spray, police batons, Tasers, and eventually handcuffs.
According to Salem Police, officers first found Johnson "completely naked and laying on the roadway" when they responded to the call at 374 Illinois Court N.E.
The officers apparently informed Mr. Johnson that he was under arrest--information the naked man was none too pleased with.
From the police report:
. . . Johnson violently resisted the officers. The officers deployed pepper spray which had no effect. The officers deployed a Taser which had no effect. The officers finally attempted to subdue Johnson by striking his legs with a police baton which again had no effect. Eventually enough officers arrived on scene to take Johnson to the ground and into custody. Johnson continued to violently resist. Johnson was provided a sedative by Paramedics who were on scene to subdue him.
After Johnson was sedated and carted off to the hospital, the officers moved their attention to the second allegedly-naked-and-tripping man, Mr. Gile.
Police say they found Gile in a neighbor's backyard. He apparently started off being OK with getting arrested, but that soon changed, and he started to "rant" and walk away.
So it was out with the Taser!
A Taser was deployed which had very little effect on Gile. Gile physically resisted and at one point reached towards an officer's duty belt and sidearm. Fortunately enough officers were on scene to physically knock Gile to the ground where he was taken into custody.
Last but not least was Mr. Morrison. Morrison has supposedly locked himself in a nearby house (not his own) and refused to come out.
But perhaps hearing that Tasers, batons, and pepper spray were used to subdue his friends, he was soon talked out of the room and arrested without incident.
The three men's alleged crimes now stand as follows:
Gile: Disorderly Conduct II
Criminal Mischief II
Interfering with a Police Officer
Criminal Trespass I
Johnson: Disorderly Conduct II
Morrison: Disorderly Conduct II
We reached out to Gile via Facebook for his side of the story, but haven't heard back yet (he's apparently not in jail, but may still be in the hospital).
We have a feeling all three won't be doing acid any time soon. And they definitely won't be going anywhere near a police officer.
