Man's Butchered Torso Found on Conveyor Belt at CDL Recycling Plant

Workers at the CDL Recycling Plant on Marginal Way say that on Friday they noticed a dirty, rolled-up rug move past on a conveyor belt. Inside the rug was something truly horrific.

Specifically, a man's butchered torso.

And it didn't take long for Seattle Police Department detectives to determine that it was no accident that led to the man's remains being at the plant.

They've called it a homicide, which would be the fifth in Seattle so far this year.

The P-I reports:

Police did not immediately say if the body matched details from recent missing persons cases, and few details were immediately available, pending an autopsy and family notification.

The body was mixed with materials from a construction site.

Here's SPD Sgt. Sean Whitcomb explaining all the details that have thus far been released.

As of Sunday evening, SPD Det. Jeff Kappel had a recorded message at SPD saying that no new information had been released on the case.

We'll update as soon as the victim is identified or there are any additional details.
